Teacher Academy Objectives
  • Develop a cadre of 70 teachers to serve as 21st century skills master teachers.
  • Assist participants in the use of 21st century tools and real-world applications in their classroom.
  • Design curriculum and instructional practices that support 21st century teaching and learning.

Master teachers will:
  • attend a Project Based Learning seminar in Sioux Falls on April 11-12, 2011
  • complete on-line requirements
  • attend the Educators’ Summer Symposium in Sioux Falls on June 6-7, 2011
  • be under contract as a K-12 teacher in a South Dakota school district during the 2010-2011 and the 2011-2012 school years or instructor at a South Dakota Institute of Higher Education
  • develop one unit plan incorporating Project Based Learning during the training session to be posted on the state website/MTA wiki

A $300 stipend will be paid to teachers completing all of the requirements. School districts will be reimbursed for substitute costs for the April dates, not to exceed $100 per day upon receipt of invoice.
