Teacher Academy Objectives
  • Develop a cadre of 70 teachers to serve as 21st century skills master teachers.
  • Assist participants in the use of 21st Century tools and real-world applications in their classroom.
  • Design curriculum and instructional practices that support 21st century teaching and learning.
  • Prepare grant participants to facilitate professional development focused on 21st century learning by the summer of 2011.
Master teachers will:
  • attend a one-week training session June 21-25, 2010 in Sioux Falls, SD
  • be under contract as a K-12 teacher in a South Dakota public school district during the 2010-2011 and the 2011-2012 school years
  • provide a 1-2 hour overview on 21st century skills for their schooldistrict’s staff by May 2011
  • develop one unit plan incorporating 21st century skills during the course of the one-week training session to be posted on the state website
  • allow your classroom to serve as a model classroom
  • participate in coaching session with Cognitive Coach©
  • participate in year long training activities as scheduled:
participate in the online professional learning network throughout the 2010-2011 school year
participate in up to four DDN and/or
be eligible to serve as a Teacher Leader for the 2011-2012 Master Teacher Academy
contribute to the design, development and delivery of the one-week training session June 2011 in Sioux Falls, SD

A $1300 stipend will be paid to teachers completing all of the requirements.
